Eight-division boxing legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao wowed boxing fans when he showcased his speed, strength and athleticism in an exhibition bout against South Korean YouTuber DK Yoo on Saturday at KINTEX in Goyang , South Korea.
Entering the match, the Filipino wore white and blue shorts, while the Korean wore red with white stripes. We’ll talk more about it here at Xgtiger Casino.
Just seconds after the bell rang, Pacquiao and Yoo went head-to-head but were careful of each other — testing the waters. The latter, who has experience in martial arts, seems to be terrified of his opponent, keeping himself out of reach of the Filipino.
Based on the match, Manny is still as fast and explosive as ever. Despite his age of 43, his punching power is still there. Read here on Lucky Cola!
The Korean martial artist took advantage of his height and reach. However, he was powerless against the great Manny Pacquiao and tasted the canvass six times but only counted once as an official.
The first knockdown happened in the fourth round, before the bell signaled its end. The Filipino champ unleashed a flurry of punches that brought Yoo to his knees. Unfortunately, it didn’t count as the Korean martial artist went down as the bell rang.
In the fifth round of the game, both fighters loosened up, with Yoo even doing the famous Ali shuffle. Pacquiao obliged and did the same with a smile. However, the former pound-for-pound boxer is becoming more accurate with his punches, driving the Korean to the ropes.
An accidental blow to Pacquiao’s head delayed the fight, for which he apologized afterward. When they resumed, a straight counter-punch from the Filipino sent the Korean diving to the floor, which the referee did not consider a knockdown.
The biggest highlight of the fight happened in the sixth round, with 1:07 left. Pacquiao lands a clean uppercut that drops Yoo to the mat.
Before the fight ended, the boxing legend landed some powerful punches that made the Korean’s knees tremble. The game ended in a draw.
Manny Pacquiao Fights For The First Time Since Retirement
Pacquiao announced his retirement in 2021 when he lost a unanimous decision to the younger Cuban fighter Yordenis Ugas.
“It’s hard to accept that my time as a boxer is over. Today, I am announcing my retirement,” Pacquiao said on September 29 in a 14-minute video.
“I never thought this day would come. As I hang up my boxing gloves, I want to thank the whole world, especially the Filipino people, for supporting Manny Pacquiao. Goodbye boxing, thank you for changing my life,” he added.
So, his fight with Yoo will be his first boxing fight after a year of retirement.
But recently, Pacquiao, with a 62-8-2 record, is gearing up for something big. He has expressed interest in fighting undefeated welterweight champions Terence Crawford and Errol Spence as soon as possible.
True, he was sad when he “hung up his gloves.” But after fighting Yoo, the Filipino legend teased the potential of returning to the ring after experiencing the joy of fighting inside it.
“It’s a great opportunity to get back in the ring,” he said in the post-fight interview. “I thought it would be easy to retire… I missed boxing.”
Aside from the possible comeback, Pacquiao, who owns the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), is about to end as the Lucky Cola-sponsored season four of the league is coming to an end. Read here on our online casino Lucky Cola for other articles.
